Mark Searle
1960 - 2025
Mark Searle, one our club’s most admired and loved members, sadly passed away suddenly this autumn. We as a club are devastated by this loss, and our club will feel like a very different place going into the 2026 season ahead.
Mark was something of a true legend of our long established club, having served as Chairperson as well as playing regularly right up to his passing. His presence in the side meant you were in for great company both on and off the field, with the added potential delight of one of his unrivalled home made teas. An ex-fast bowler with his beloved Erratics CC in his youth, Mark only ever batted for W&SCC, demonstrating his all-round sporting prowess, a batter who hit the ball with unrivalled timing while constantly providing encouragement and positivity to all those around him, whether you were new to the game or experienced.
The image here sums up his attitude perfectly to both cricket and people alike, always making time to welcome players to our beautiful ground, with the game ahead regarded by him as an opportunity for good sport and good times for all.
Our thoughts remain with his family and friends beyond our club.
